In advanced coating systems, the vacuum chamber is more than just a process enclosure. It is the foundation of the entire system. The chamber must provide stable vacuum conditions, practical access, reliable sealing, flexible integration, and a clean internal environment suitable for demanding coating and deposition applications.
At Anadolu Vacuum Technologies, we design and manufacture custom vacuum chambers according to the specific technical requirements of each application. One of our recent projects is a 400 × 400 × 400 mm cubic UHV chamber developed for use in the coating industry, featuring a multi-port configuration and a practical access-oriented design.
This chamber was engineered to support process flexibility, easy integration, and reliable long-term use in industrial vacuum coating environments.

Multi-Port Configuration for Flexible System Integration
One of the most important features of this chamber is its multi-port configuration. The chamber includes large process openings as well as smaller auxiliary ports positioned on different surfaces of the chamber body.
This type of configuration gives the end user flexibility when integrating the chamber into a larger coating system. Different ports can be used for different purposes, such as:
Vacuum pumping connections, process gas inlet, electrical feedthroughs, measurement equipment, viewports, pressure gauges, process monitoring tools, motion components, coating-related accessories, and future system upgrades.
In custom vacuum chamber design, port placement is a critical engineering decision. A port is not just a hole in the chamber body. Its position affects accessibility, assembly, internal clearance, maintenance, process flow, and the overall usability of the system.
For this reason, each port layout must be designed around the actual application.
Hinged Lid Design for Easy Access and Maintenance
The chamber features a large hinged top lid supported by gas struts. This design improves access to the internal volume and makes the chamber more practical for daily use.
In coating systems, frequent access may be required for loading parts, adjusting fixtures, cleaning internal surfaces, replacing components, or checking process hardware. A removable lid can work in some systems, but a hinged lid provides a more controlled and user-friendly solution when repeated access is needed.
The hinged structure also helps protect the chamber and the sealing surfaces during operation and maintenance. Instead of completely removing the lid and placing it on another surface, the lid remains connected to the chamber body and opens in a controlled direction.
This improves handling, reduces operational effort, and supports a cleaner workflow.
Large Process Ports for Coating System Requirements
The photos show large circular openings on the chamber, including a major side port and a top-mounted circular interface. These large process ports are essential in coating systems where the chamber must connect to external equipment or provide access for larger components.
Depending on the final application, large ports can be used for pumping systems, source integration, viewport assemblies, process modules, access covers, or other specialized equipment.
The large port geometry also helps make the chamber adaptable. In industrial vacuum systems, future changes are common. A system may need additional instrumentation, a modified process setup, or a different connection arrangement. A chamber with well-planned large access points can support these changes more easily.

Whether the requirement is a compact cubic chamber, a complex multi-port design, a coating system chamber, or a fully customized vacuum assembly, our goal is to deliver solutions that are precise, reliable, and ready for demanding industrial use.
